WGN America Rebrand - Case Study

Empty white background

The Challenge

In 2013, I redesigned the logo and brand identity for WGN America, a cable and satellite television channel owned by Tribune Broadcasting. WGN America was transitioning from syndicated programming to original programming produced by Tribune Studios. My task was to create a more sophisticated logo to compete with brands like AMC and FX.

The Process

I hired four designers (Evelyn Lim, Jim Read, Jorge Peschiera, and Arnold Marzan) and myself to create various logos for the channel. I requested numerous distinct designs for the first round. Here are some examples.
